“I’ve enjoyed advanced singing this year a lot. The class is very supportive and encouraging if you have an inhibited nature. I personally found that I held back, but after being integrated for a few weeks, I sang with much more confidence and self esteem. Sheilah as a teacher is very good, as well as being very perceptive and understanding towards her students: she knows and recognises her students’ needs.”

“Durante esta semana he podido sacar ese nudo que tenía dentro de mi alma y sé que así podré estar siempre alegre, por lo menos casi todos los días. Esta asignatura ha sido una experiencia para luego propagar a la familia, amigos y hasta gente que no se conoce por lo menos en ese justo momento. También he aprendido como se puede trabajar la voz desde diferentes aspectos.

“I have really enjoyed the classes this year. I feel my singing is improving technically and emotionally. My confidence is also returning having not sung for a few years I realise I still have a lot of work to do. It has been a refreshing change to have classes where people can improvise and so obviously enjoy the work they are doing. The group is very supportive of one another and Sheilah is an excellent teacher. Sheilah’s energy and enthusiasm is contagious and soon spread among the group leaving a lot of contented people. I very much want to carry on going to the classes, exploring and learning about the possibilities and use of voice.”

“I need to be more comfortable with my voice instead of so critical. Sheilah was very understanding and supportive. It’s my inner fears I need to overcome. I know I can sing. I feel I have gained a lot of technical experience and confidence. My performances have improved and I’m gaining more and more each class. Sheilah makes the class fun and interesting to be in and she really pushes us to our limits. I am well impressed with what I have gained this year.”

“I have really enjoyed the singing classes this year. I was very lucky to move from 1st to 2nd level in one term, which was a great confidence booster. The exercises that we did in the classes were very good for my breathing technique. I was very impressed with the way Sheilah encourages us and corrected us when an exercise was not done properly. It’s a shame classes aren’t a bit longer, but it just means that I have to work harder to get into the next group.”

“I found the classes were very enjoyable. The students were very friendly and nice. The tutor Sheilah was brilliant. I learnt so much from Sheilah and I am hoping that I will be able to learn much more. She is very friendly, a laugh and teaches very interesting work.”

My confidence has grown and I am happy to sing in front of people, especially my class who are very supportive. Sheilah is an excellent tutor; she teaches well and makes the classes fun. “I enjoy 2nd level singing very much. It has really helped me to develop my singing ability. I have discovered that having a good voice is only half of having a singing career. You must consider performance, projection of your voice, breathing, etc. Sheilah is a laugh and makes the class fun, but it is by no means NOT hard work.”

“Gains: an enormous amount gained in what feels like a short amount of time: the ability to sing in front of others and to admit to myself and others that singing is an important part of my thoughts and wishes. Hearing everyone’s abilities is fantastic and helps so much. Sheilah’s extraordinary gifts; teaching and creating an atmosphere where we can all grow are fantastic and I totally appreciate the space/chance to sing with Sheilah and the other students.”
